Mayank Bhardwaj is a Procurement and Private Sector Lead for RTI for the USAID South Asia Regional Energy Partnership (SAREP) where he manages investment mobilization and financing. In this capacity, Mr. Bhardwaj works with firms in achieving decarbonization, helping to build capacity and thought leadership, and assisting organizations in capital funding across the project’s six countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka). Mr. Bhardwaj has more than 16 years of experience working in various sectors, including renewables, thermal, power transmission, water (desalination and wastewater), hydro power, municipal solid waste, airports, roads, and metro. While he was with Sterlite Power, in New Delhi, he specialized in business acquisitions, where he led the financial modeling, investment appraisal, and risk assessment for acquisition opportunities. At Ernst & Young, Mr. Bhardwaj advised state and central governments in privatization, disinvestment, public-private partnerships, and competitive bidding initiatives, including transaction structuring, communication with potential investors, and transaction documentation. Mr. Bhardwaj has also been involved in financial closure as well as strategic disinvestment of solar and transmission assets. Mr. Bhardwaj has influenced investment mobilization for more than $2.5B in infrastructure sector funding. He is based in New Delhi, India, and also has experience in Nepal.
