A gold medallist from Punjab University, Ms Vandana Singhal obtained her B.E.(Hons.) in Electrical Engineering and M.E.(Distinction) in Power Systems from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh in the year 1986 and 1988 respectively. She joined Central Power Engineering Service(Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India) as Assistant Director, Gr-I in the year 1988 and has over 35 years experience in different areas of power sector mainly Telecom, Grid Operation and Distribution. Ms Singhal is presently working as Chief Engineer, Distribution Policy & Monitoring Division, CEA. Ms. Singhal has been actively associated with various Committees including those for review of National Electricity Policy. She is also a member of the various Sectional Committees of the Bureau of Indian Standards dealing with Low Voltage Direct Current, Energy Meters, Power Quality, Electro-Technology in Mobility, Transformers etc. She is also a part of the Technical Committee on Grid, Distribution and Energy Conservation Research under the National Perspective Plan of Govt. of India for Research & Development in the area of Distribution and Distributed Generation. She has also been associated with preparation of 24x7 Power For All documents for various States across the country. During 2007-10, she was on deputation with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited as Manager(Operation & Maintenance) at 400/220 kV Substation at Maharanibagh, New Delhi. During the deputation period, she was actively associated with development of operating procedures for remote operation of 400/220 kV Maharanibagh Sub-station from Ballabgarh Substation. She has attended more than 50 International and National Conferences. She has visited U.S.A., Canada and Singapore on official duties.
