Shri Arun Goyal, a retired 1985 batch IAS officer of the Union Territories Cadre, has nearly four decades of experience in power, finance, commerce, industry, regulation, and public administration. As a former Member of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, he played a key role in shaping critical regulations and adjudicating over 2,200 petitions. He was instrumental in Delhi’s power sector reforms, including the unbundling of Delhi Vidyut Board and privatization of distribution. He also contributed to major national reforms like GST rollout and India’s Financial Intelligence Unit. He has held key positions in the Cabinet Secretariat, PMO, and the Indian Embassy in Tokyo. An electrical engineer from Delhi College of Engineering, he also holds an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and advanced degrees in Economics and Development Management.
