Arnada Prasad Samal is the General Manager and Head of Nuclear Engineering at NTPC Ltd, where he has played a pivotal role in advancing the company's presence in the nuclear sector. Beginning his career with the commissioning of the 2X500MW Talcher Super Thermal Power Station, Arnada’s experience in project engineering, planning, and management laid the foundation for his subsequent achievements.Over the years, Arnada has been instrumental in establishing NTPC as a leading player in the nuclear industry. Under his leadership, NTPC is now recognized as a key contributor toward India’s net-zero target by 2070. His work includes the revival of the joint venture with NPCIL, the development of Indian Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in collaboration with BARC, and securing fuel security through the acquisition of overseas uranium mines with UCIL.In addition to his nuclear work, Arnada has driven major initiatives in power generation, including the execution of the TTPS-III project and the successful completion of key enabling works such as land acquisition, fuel procurement, and statutory clearances. His strategic planning helped ensure the project will meet its commercial operation date (COD). Furthermore, Arnada’s concept of bulk tendering for supercritical boilers, turbines, and generators resulted in indigenous manufacturing capabilities, contributing to India’s AtmaNirbhar initiative in supercritical technology.
