Sumedh Agarwal works with Research Triangle Institute and serves as Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID South Asia Regional Energy Partnership, a project aimed at improving access to affordable, secure, reliable, and sustainable energy in six South Asian countries. Mr. Agarwal brings 20+ years of experience working in utility domain. He has worked for two of the world’s globally benchmarked utilities. For the Dubai Electricity Water Authority, he led the development of smart grid strategy and designed solutions for demand response, SCADA ADMS and distributed Energy management system. As a utility engineer for TATA Power, he played a critical role in improving operational efficiencies of utility via automation. Currently Mr. Agarwal is supporting Govt of India in bringing national level scheme of Smart Distribution cities that focuses on digitization of distribution systems. Before joining RTI, Mr. Agarwal was a Director at Tetra Tech where he managed donor-funded projects for USAID, ADB, USTDA, and The World Bank, focused on reforming power sector, clean energy deployment, and have worked with utilities in more than 15+ countries building capacity of more than 1000+ energy sector professionals. He has hand-on experience working with clients in the Middle East, North America, Asia, and Pacific.
