Prof. Abhijit Abhyankar is NTPC Chair Professor and Dean (Infrastructure) of IIT Delhi. He received his PhD from Electrical Engineering Department of IIT Bombay in 2007. Prof Abhyankar was a member of Global Future Council for Clean Electrification of World Economic Forum, the only Indian academic in the council. He has worked as an expert on advisory committees set up by various bodies of Ministry of Power, Government of India like CEA, CERC. He was a member of the committee formed by CERC on ‘transmission corridor allocation to multiple power exchanges’, the recommendations of which further lead to the concept of market coupling. He was also a member of Taskforce on PoC Transmission Pricing Review, constituted by Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). Prof Abhyankar has played a key role in preparing a white paper on 'Reforms in Power Sector through Distribution System Operations (DSOs)', which is highly appreciated by the power fraternity. Prof Abhyankar is a lead of a team that is developing indigenous software for power supply simulation for National High Speed Railway corporation (Bullet Train). Currently, he is working extensively on developing models of possible implementation of Distribution System Operators (DSOs) in India.
